Acoustic insulation with polyethylene sheets
Improving acoustics in large spaces is key to user comfort. In this project, Peracell took part in the acoustic improvement of a municipal sports hall using polyethylene acoustic insulation sheets, an effective, lightweight technical solution especially suitable for large volumes.

Project origin
The project was driven through a participatory budget, in which citizens voted as a priority the improvement of the pavilion’s acoustics, which were affected by high reverberation that made both sports practice and other multipurpose uses difficult.
Mediacustic (engineering in acoustics, noise and vibrations) carried out the preliminary study, determining the need to incorporate suspended absorbing elements to reduce the reverberation time of the space.
Applied solution
Peracell supplied polyethylene acoustic sheets, which were installed hanging vertically from the ceiling, in black, providing a functional yet elegant solution, perfectly integrated into the architecture of the pavilion.
Main characteristics of the solution:
- Very lightweight material, ideal for suspended installations
- High acoustic absorption capacity
- High efficiency in reducing reverberation
- Simple installation, without overloading the structure
Results achieved
After the intervention, the pavilion’s reverberation time was reduced from 5.8 seconds to 2.0 seconds, achieving a significant improvement in acoustic comfort, speech intelligibility, and the overall sound quality of the space.
Conclusion
The polyethylene acoustic insulation sheets supplied by Peracell, of European manufacture, represent an effective, aesthetic, and lightweight technical solution for sports halls and public spaces. This project demonstrates how a citizen-led decision, supported by a rigorous technical study, can translate into a real and measurable improvement of a municipal facility.
